heh heh heh
They look like aliens too. I'm sure someone's done one of these drawings before. Or am I that lame....

117: Superman
I gotta' say that new Man of Steel trailer made me excited for the movie. I wasn't at first because I don't have a lot of faith in Zack Synder but he won me over with that trailer. I hope it delivers in a big bad way! Speaking of Supes,I will be at Superman Celebration in Metropolis, IL June 7-9th!

116: Onomatopoeia
I always liked the look and concept of this character. He's basically the equivalent of the Police Academy guy that does all the sound effects with his mouth. A DC villain created by Kevin Smith that appeared prominently in Smith's mini-series, Batman: Cacophony.
Hey speaking of Kevin Smith he's at C2E2 and so am I. Come on down to McCormick place in Chicago, Artist Alley L6A going on right now!

113: Alien Hominid
This was one of my favorite games on the ps2. I believe it started as a flash game on newgrounds.com and it blew up from there. I was in college when this came out and at the time I was learning Flash. This game had reached a level of achievement and there has been an indie game movement ever since.

111: Sexy Boba Fett
Last night was my bachelor party and it was insanely fun. It started with a co-op scavenger hunt followed by a trip to Headquarters Beercade in Chicago. After a couple hours of gaming, we went to the Gorilla Tango theater for a Star Wars themed burlesque show entitled, THE EMPIRE BRINGS SEXY BACK.
It was a good time for friends, games, and geekdom. Today's sketch is in celebration of that glorious night with a sexy Boba Fett. Wedding is in 20 days!

110: Axe Cop
It's a double dose of Ethan Nicolle this week with his other comic, AXE COP! The comic is drawn by Ethan and written by his 5 year old brother, Malachai. It tells the crazy adventures of an ax wielding cop. To quote Wonka, it's pure imagination, filled with great stories and hilarious character concepts. It's becoming a Fox animation this summer and the trailer premiered at Wonder Con.

109: Bearmageddon
I love bears. They are crazy awesome. I love comics which are also crazy awesome. Then Ethan Nicolle had the crazy awesome idea of BEARMAGEDDON. Yup it's exactly how it sounds. I look forward to this strip every week because I have no idea what the heck is going to happen. A comic like this works because of Ethan Nicolle. I had the pleasure of talking with Ethan briefly about this strip when it was just starting out. He talked about some of it's origins and ideas for the characters so it is wonderful to see it come together on screen...er...monitor. His love for the idea really comes through the pages.

108: The Abominable Charles Christopher
THE ABOMINABLE CHARLES CHRISTOPHER was the first web comic I started reading. Karl Kerschl writes and illustrates this wonderful story about a sasquatch that lives in the forest amongst the animals that dwell in it. The amazing thing Kerschl does is give the animals their own stories that relate to every day life. It is epic in a Tolkien-fashion. The second volume of collected strips came out recently. Do yourself a favor and start reading this comic.

107: Desmond
Today's web comic tribute is of DESMOND'S COMIC, a strip about the life and times of a video game character written and illustrated by the crazy talented Joe Foo. What can I say about Joe Foo? I'd never pass up an opportunity to attend a convention with Joe Foo. I met him a few years ago at a SPACE show and we've been good friends ever since. He's really helped me build up a confidence with talking to people at conventions. The man has a die-hard work ethic and it's something I try and emulate every day. Joe works ALOT. He is the definition of "good times."
His web comic is also the definition of "good times." It's a great blend of videogame nuances and the magic of Saturday morning cartoons. He put out a big book of collected Desmond strips and it's a fantastic read because it comes with creator commentary and he really lets you go behind the scenes of each strip and how he goes from script to final product. It's wonderful!

106: Bea, the Dreamer
Web Comics week continues with Bea from THE DREAMER. The Dreamer is a adventure-romance comic set during present day and The Revolutionary War written and drawn by the lovely Lora Innes.
I first met Lora when I started the convention circuit with When I Was Little. It was my second show, The Mid Ohio Con, and I still had those convention noobie jitters. I actually sought out Lora because I discovered her comic when I was looking over the bios of the Mid Ohio artist roster. I was immediately drawn to her art style, they had a picture of The Dreamer trade cover and it stood out to me. It wasn't super-heroes or crazy monsters it was a comic about history. It was unique. It was something I had to tell her in person.
After that show, we've been convention friends ever since and she's continued to inspire me with her art and story telling. She's even helped me promote HEART through her PAPER WINGS PODCAST that she does with the amazingly talented Chris Oatley.
Check out The Dreamer as well as the Paper Wings community if you're in need of some artistic inspiration!

099: Mr. Hand, Dark City
I was devastated by the news of ROGER EBERT'S passing last week. He was a big influence in my love for movies and I watched his show all the time when I was little and developing a taste for cinema.
I rewatched the movie DARK CITY, which has a great commentary by Ebert, in way of tribute to the man. He really dissects the film and explores all the nuances of what makes this film so great. Here's the creepy MR. HAND one of "the strangers" in the film. If you haven't checked this film out, do yourself a favor and rent it, buy it, and the watch it with the commentaries. They are great!

096: Gizmo Duck
This was one of the coolest characters in cartoons ever. I remember seeing this character more in DUCK TALES and not so much the DARKWING DUCK cartoon which I never really watched a lot of. But the GIZMO DUCK suit was such a cool looking character.

095: Evil Ash
In honor of the EVIL DEAD remake, which I think looks pretty awesome, I thought I'd put up an Evil Ash from the great cinematic classic ARMY OF DARKNESS. I hope the crossover rumors are true and we get an AOD2 molded into the universe of the original series, it would be amazing.

093: Edward Scissorhands
This movie was so bizarre and wonderful. As I got older, I realized how weird and perverse the scene was where Edward started cutting the women's hair and that one lady curled her toes and her eyes rolled towards the back of their heads...oh wait it's Johnny Depp, never mind.

091: Donatello fan
This turtle's favorite character on the show is Donatello. Look how cute he looks with his bandana and toy staff.
